The Virginia Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities was founded in 2001 to help children in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia under the direction of the National Board of Directors and a local Board of Trustees whose sole purpose is to distribute the funds raised each year to qualified children's-based 501(c)(3) organizations. The Virginia Chapter has no paid employees. All the required administrative support and office space is donated by Danny and Sandra Green, owners of Green Racing, Stafford, VA. One hundred percent of all funds raised by, or donated to, the Chapter goes to the children. Danny serves as the Director of the Virginia Chapter of the Speedway Children's Charities.
Unlike the chapters which are located at SMI speedways, the Virginia Chapter is based in Stafford, Virginia. Its primary source of funding comes from raffles, NASCAR memorabilia auctions, co-sponsored charitable events, contributions and private donations. The Charity's National Headquarters also provides the Virginia Chapter a portion of the funds it raises during the year.
